“I had tried yoga several times before and had mixed experiences.  I always liked the essence of yoga as a practice but often got put off by cold dusty village hall floors when it came to a dark cold and wet evening! When there I would often find myself comparing my ability (or often lack of it) to others in the group, which at times resulted in a very unfavourable comparison!

NorburYoga is different as the environment is pleasant (no dirty floors, drafty windows, nor the faint whiff of the afternoon toddler group lingering!). I enjoy having individual sessions, as there is no embarrassment or disappointment when you find you are not as flexible as you had hoped! Abbie focuses the class on the areas you wish to improve upon and comes up with individual solutions when extra help and guidance is needed to achieve a position or goal.

NorburYoga classes help me to focus my mind on me, for an hour a week. Abbie’s enthusiasm for yoga rubs off on you and really helps you to look inward to work towards self improvement. As a result of taking Yoga classes with Abbie, I have started to take better care of myself, through exercise and diet.  Prior to starting with NorburYoga, I rarely made it to the gym (I lacked any kind of commitment) and now in addition to doing yoga 3 or 4 times a week, I manage to fit in 2 or 3 gym sessions. My diet has improved and I am losing weight.  I have more energy and am much stronger particularly in my upper body, which was notably weak.  I have more energy than I have had for a long time.

With Abbie’s help I have identified areas of imbalance and stress in my body.  Some of the programme which Abbie sets for me, is aimed to help me improve my movement in these areas and address the imbalances in my body.  I hope that with practice I can redress these areas of imbalance and avoid ill-health in the future.
